Flat feet may be the source of your foot and ankle pain. The reason that our feet have arches is to help evenly distribute the weight of our bodies. Having flat feet brings an excess amount of pressure on the heel and arch of the foot. Fortunately, there are ways that you can temporarily alter your foot in order to reverse the negative effects of having flat feet. Flexibility and strengthening exercises can help those who struggle with flat feet, and so can bracing. These methods can help eliminate foot, hip, knee, and lower back pain.
What are Flat Feet?
Flat feet is a condition in which the arch of the foot is depressed and the sole of the foot is almost completely in contact with the ground. About 20-30% of the population generally has flat feet because their arch never formed during growth.
Conditions & Problems:
Having flat feet makes it difficult to run or walk because of the stress placed on the ankles.
Alignment – The general alignment of your legs can be disrupted, because the ankles move inward which can cause major discomfort.
Knees – if you have complications with your knees, flat feet can be a contributor to arthritis in that area.
Pain around the heel or arch area
Trouble standing on the tip toe.
Swelling around the inside of the ankle.
Flat look to one or both feet.
Having your shoes feel uneven when worn
If you are experiencing pain and stress on the foot you may weaken the posterior tibial tendon, which runs around the inside of the ankle.

Arthritis and Rheumatologypublished an interesting study that suggests that cherries may alleviate symptoms in gout patients. Gout is a type of inflammatory arthritis characterized by an overproduction and crystallization of uric acid, which can cause instances of swelling and severe pain in joints.
The researchers who held the study monitored the rate of gout attacks and medications in roughly six hundred patients throughout the span of a year.. There were two-day control periods where subjects consumed either cherries or cherry extracted products. Researchers have been able to conclude that both cherries and their extracts reduced the risk of a near-immediate gout attack by 35%.

What is gout?
Diseases of the feet can affect the whole body, and symptoms usually arise within the feet. A condition like gout can make a patient’s ability to walk unbearable. The pain caused by this disease is often so agonizing that it requires elevation of the feet and some time off for them to fully recover.
Known in the past as “the disease of kings,” Gout is caused by an excess of uric acid in the body. Some common symptoms include pain, inflammation, and redness at the metatarsal/phalangeal joint of the base big toe. This buildup of acid is typically seen on the big toe of the foot and can cause inflammation, redness and swelling. Although these are common symptoms of the diseases others include joint pain, extreme fatigue and a high fever.
Gout can be treated by NSAIDs, which relieves pain and inflammation and other drugs which lowers the acid levels in the body.
